The techniques described are based on the vinyl manufacturer’s recommended methods. Digital Image Lounge accepts no responsibility for property damage, injury, or liability resulting from decal installation or removal.
STEP 1: Lay the decal face-up on a flat surface and firmly squeegee to ensure the application tape adheres properly.
STEP 2: Use masking tape to position the decal. Measure and anchor each end to the surface.
STEP 3: Secure a vertical strip of masking tape across the centre to create a hinge, allowing half the decal to be applied at a time.
STEP 4: Slowly peel back the application mask. If the graphic sticks to the liner instead, press the tape back down and re-adhere.
STEP 5: Stop at the hinge and carefully cut away the exposed release liner (do not tear). Discard the removed liner.
STEP 6: Starting from the centre, squeegee the decal outward in short strokes, keeping tension to avoid air bubbles.
STEP 7: Remove the centre hinge tape and repeat Steps 4–6 for the other half.
STEP 8: Firmly squeegee the entire decal in vertical, horizontal, and diagonal strokes for full adhesion.
STEP 9: Peel back the application mask at a sharp angle. If any graphics lift, press them down and re-squeegee.
STEP 10: Check for loose edges and press into place. For bubbles, pierce with a fine needle and smooth out. Do not squeegee after mask removal to avoid scratches.
